I found a new style ref full of the most wonderfully bizarre, whacky characters, with a bit of a surreal feeling, and I knew it was perfect for this sing. The song has such an unusual rhythm, and I was completely stuck trying to land the chorus. Enter Marshall Altman. He has this incredible instinct for writing right through the beat and absolutely nailed it (he even slipped in a brilliant little Big Lebowski nod!). I sometimes love treating lyrics as abstract imagery, letting the words push and pull the rhythm rather than just telling a literal story, and this song completely captures that energy. :-)
