This Earth Day, we’re celebrating a big milestone: 250 million trees planted by the Ecosia community. This means Ecosia is now the world’s largest planter of native trees, and one of the biggest contributors to protecting endangered tree species around the world.
This milestone is much more than just a number. These 250 million trees are delivering real benefits for our environment, animal species and local communities:
🌳 Our trees remove thousands of tons of CO2 from the atmosphere every day.
🐅 They provide habitats for some of the planet’s most astonishing creatures, including endangered species like the Sumatran tiger and the Sunda slow loris.
🦧 They reconnect forests, so animals can travel safely between them.
🌵 They hold back the desert in some of the world’s harshest climates.
🍎 Our trees also help local communities adapt to a changing climate, by providing shade, enriching the soil, growing fruits and nuts, and generating incomes.
Since our founding in 2009, we've used all of our profits for the planet. That's over €100 million invested into climate action, from forests and renewable energy to regenerative agriculture.
