Last time you saw us we were leaving Vinnie’s after the big interior upgrades. This week we pick up right there, show you how the new credenza/coffee bar and wedge cabinet are working in real life, then hit the road on our West Coast trek.
We rolled north of Sacramento, caught up with friend John Garcia, then Brad headed solo to Lemoore Naval Air Station (hello 110° heat and the AirGear AirShade), Camp Pendleton (Lake O’Neill + Del Mar Beach), and a quick visit with Connor. Blair flew back in, we had a date night at Cowboy Star in San Diego, and then the real social stretch began.
Temecula citrus-grove stay with Paul & Jody (same trailer, lots of fruit, and Blair’s new favorite game — Rummikub), a fun visit with Rachel and the girls, then up Highway 1 through the Malibu fire areas. Navy Base Ventura County, the Reagan Library (Air Force One + Marine One), driveway camping with Eric & Cindy in San Luis Obispo, a dog-beach spa day for Piper, and a stop with Ron & Anne near Avila.
Military campgrounds, great friends, beautiful (and sometimes tight) coastline, and plenty of Piper chaos. Next week: elephant seals, Big Sur, Monterey Aquarium, 17-Mile Drive, and into San Francisco.
