Historians estimate that over three million Black slaves were forcibly transported from the Nigerian coastal settlement of Badagry.

Across the town are historical relics and museums in memory of that dark time.

But as CGTN's David Mbithi reports, local authorities are trying to reshape the narrative into one of hope and rebirth.
