WeRide is expanding into Belgium! We're partnering with De Lijn, City of Leuven, and Espaces-Mobilités to launch our Robobus in Leuven. This is WeRide's 11th global market and builds on our European presence after deployments in France, Switzerland and Spain.
What's happening next:
- From today: Field preparations at Leuven Station and Heverlee in downtown Leuven.
- Mid-September: Public road testing begins, with a safety officer onboard for the first phase.
- Mid-November to end-January 2026: Pilot shuttle service operated by De Lijn — Belgium's first commercial autonomous vehicle in mixed and complex traffic. Passengers will be able to board using digital tickets via app, SMS, or subscription.
- After end-January 2026: Regular service starts.
