Arith Härger | Were Viking Witches Real ? @ArithH%C3%A4rger | Uploaded September 2022 | Updated October 2024, 20 hours ago.
From an academic perspective, is it correct to say "nordic witches" in relation to the pre-Christian Nordic völur as women practitioner of seiðr? - This is the question I'm going to try to answer, taking into consideration the concept of witchcraft and pre- and post- Christian mentalities in Northern Europe.
For bibliography this time I will suggest some of my past videos (which contain bibliography) which you may find to be useful concerning a more in-depth study of both seiðr as well as Nordic Middle Ages Diabolism and Witchcraft:

Ps: the two images you see in the thumbnail for this video is a c. 12th - 1300 CE depiction of a cloaked woman riding a large cat which appears on a wall in the Schleswig Cathedral in Schleswig-Holstein (former Denmark), Northern Germany. She is commonly interpreted as Freyja. She is also alongside another feminine figure (see next to it) riding a broom (interpreted as Frigg). These are Christian depictions of what we could, perhaps, call "proto-witch" figure.
