⚉ Bricks can be converted into supercapacitors using a basic chemical process. Can be charged and discharged for 10,000 cycles with a power decrease of just 10 per cent. Three bricks could power a green LED on a single charge for ten minutes. Still a long way from being ready-to-go energy storage solution for our homes but could be useful for emergency illumination. We are happy to make clear that the bricks are still a concept proof rather than a ready to go solution.
Nanofibers can be treated with acid to increase capacity by a factor of 10. Team also working on ways to transform nanofiber into composite materials that contain other semiconductors. Other groups have mixed bricks with nanoparticles to clean out air emissions and one has made bricks that can conduct electricity by adding carbon nanomaterial electrodes.

⚉ There is nothing in physics that matches the notion of the now according to physics, writes physicist Richard Cantor. Cantor: Is the present something in the world that is objective, that flows and that makes things exist? For all of us the passage of time is obvious, in time there are our thoughts and our speech, he says. Martin Heidegger, the German philosopher, emphasized our time residence, Cantor says. Those like us who believe in science realize that the differentiation created between history, current and potential is nothing but a constant, obstinate illusion, he adds.
Time flow emerges from physics but not in the context of an accurate description of things as they are, writes Heidegger. Time is at the heart of the tangle of problems created by gravity, quantum mechanics, and thermodynamics collision. We do not yet have a theory that can draw these three essential pieces of our knowledge of the world together. Because of the limitations of our consciousness, we perceive only a blurred worldview, and live in time, says Heideggers. There is still too much to be learned.
Hawking has shown that black holes have a temperature using quantum mechanics. This phenomenon involves all three sides of the issue: quantum mechanics, relativity in general, and thermal sciences. In the end, the heat of black holes seems to be like the Rosetta stone of science.
