Dr. Keedle is a Senior Lecturer and Director of Academic Programs (Midwifery) at Western Sydney University with over two decades of clinical and academic experience in midwifery and nursing.
A leading researcher in VBAC, birth trauma, and respectful maternity care, Hazel is internationally recognized for her evidence-based, woman-centered approach.
She’s the author of two powerful books:
📖 Birth After Caesarean: Your Journey to a Better Birth (2022)
📖 The Clinician’s Guide to Better Birth After Caesarean (2025)
As the lead researcher of the Birth Experience Study (BESt), Hazel explores women’s maternity care experiences across the world — and continues to guide policy and practice as an advisor to the NSW Birth Trauma Inquiry and the Australian College of Midwives.
Her work bridges research, advocacy, and clinical application — empowering midwives to support VBAC through listening, learning, and confidence in practice. 🌿
