Our ‘mini tunnel boring machine’ has arrived at our tunnelling hub site in Yarraville.
It will dig a diversion to the North Yarra Main Sewer, relocating it so we can build the West Gate Tunnel.
Although this TBM is 3 metres in diameter, it's still considered 'mini'.
The two big TBMs we'll use to dig the actual West Gate Tunnel are more than five times bigger, at 15.6 metres in diameter!
