2023 SacAnime AMV Contest Winner: Drama 1st Place

MAJOR SPOILERS FOR ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE, DO NOT WATCH THIS IF YOU HAVENT SEEN THE MOVIE!!! (also if you haven’t seen the movie yet, what are you doing????)
I would like to start this description by thanking Marvel editors for being actual wizards and creating this extremely high def version of the movie despite it technically not being released to digital yet. Y’all are my heroes.
You know a movie’s good when it gets me back on a specific hyperfixation again. My actual fear watching Across the Spider-Verse was that I was gonna be obsessed with Spider-Man again and would drop all of my current projects. Sure enough I’m obsessed with Spider-Man again and dropped all my current projects. I just love LOVE this movie so much. In many ways, it gave me the same feelings I had watching No Way Home for the first time. Just this intense celebration of a character that’s been around for so many years with so many iterations while also giving a specific iteration a fantastic character arc. I loved the first one, truly I did. But I think this one tops it for me. ITSV is effectively simple, and ATSV expands on those simplicities and makes them more layered and complex, which just made the story and characters so much more engaging for me. And trust me, ITSV was already a hard movie to top. But I also think that ATSV was giving me what was missing for me in ITSV, the thing to get me incredibly attached to the characters, stories, and even villains. Never in a million years would I have said that fucking Spot was a better villain that THE Kingpin, but I kinda feel like I have to say that??? Anyways I could go on forever. I just truly feel in love with this movie and I can’t wait for the next one!
So this video is actually not just a cool fun edit, but a redemption, an update, a sequel if you will, to a video I made of the first Spider-Verse back in 2018. I had the specific goal to try and make the video emulate what the movie itself was doing, which was doing a lot of glitch effects and making the typography look like comic book text. And while I don’t actively dislike the video, I KNEW I could do the concept so much better now, especially since I was only working with trailers back then. And ho boy not only did I do all of those aforementioned things but I ALSO did the thing I don’t like doing for canon videos and did a bunch of masks for either transitions or for cool text effects. Ultimately while I do like the result and I'm glad I got the chance to experiment, I probably won't do something this complicated for a full length video again. It takes up a lot of time and it's not really my style. Anyways, enjoy!

Is this my third time editing this song? Yes. Will it be the last? Man who knows at this point.
This is for Crossing Infinity Studios, a crossover studio I’ve been in for a year and just NOW finishing a part for. Yaaayyy XD. But the studio is currently loads of fun and I’m excited to do more MEP projects for it in the future!
SO this was an idea I’ve had since July and I thought it was gonna be for my original Halloween video. But obviously I ended up scrapping it for Angry River, however I wasn’t totally willing to let it go completely. Hence this MEP part!
Tarzan was originally gonna be possessed by a demon, but then I watched Midnight Mass and went “idk maybe vampires are cool after all”. Does this mean most of my future horror projects will always be inspired by Mike Flanagan’s works? Probably!
In any case I just really love the horror of not being to control one’s impulses, especially when they’re heightened to such an animalistic degree. I definitely wanna expand on this story sometime in the future just because there’s a lot of potential with it, but this is just a starter for now and I’m quite happy with it! Enjoy!

(this was going to be uploaded yesterday but i got home late and was doing COTH stuff so WHOOPS)
I’ve been waiting for the perfect excuse to work with this song and the Great Prince so HERE IT IS!!! I chose Nita as his companion because I think she matches the winter setting I was going for really well. I was considering Belle, but that pair has been done so many times I wanted to do something different. I also don’t work with animals…like ever…so this was a unique experiment! But WOW, it was so hard fitting all this into 20 seconds. Like gooossshh. I had to sacrifice a lot of flashback stuff to make the fight scene look smooth.
Also since this is a part for a birthday MEP, HAPPY BIRTHDAY LAUREN!!! You such a sweetheart and I’m glad I was able to participate in this!!! Enjoy!!
STORY:
The Great Prince has been Nita’s guardian since she was a child, as he found her all alone abandoned in the woods. One day Nita ended up wandering off, but ran into a pack of wolves. Terrified she attempted to fight them, but would be overpowered. Prince ended up coming to her rescue and fought off the wolves. As the wolves run off, she is once again grateful for him and having him in her life.
NOTE: The relationship in my mind is like a father/daughter relationship! Very similar to Kaya and Tarzan.")

Did you know that outside of the parts I did for Halloween, I didn’t make *any* crossover MEP parts last year? I couldn’t believe it when I figured that out, that’s such a wild feeling. So it was really nice to do that again with this part!
This is @annelabyrinth2243‘s At All Costs MEP! The theme was simply a star person and a human being in love. And y’all know me, I love a good celestial and mortal theme so I couldn’t pass up the opportunity! This also took me back to when I did romance parts not based on a RP couple but just characters I thought fit my idea best. Plus I’ve done the immortal x mortal theme with all of my OTPs at this point, it was time to do something different XD. Designing Poca was really fun, I liked getting to experiment a bit. I actually ended up being inspired by Star Boy’s design from Wish. The black outfit against the glowing white hair is such a super nice contrast! The star effect on her could admittedly look better but I’m satisfied!
In terms of story, I didnt have much in mind. I think the only concrete idea here is that this is a reunion, not a first meeting. Honestly it was kinda nice to be more chill with the story for once. Usually Im iNSANE trying to cram as much shit in as little time as possible. Glad I didnt stress myself out with that this time around XD. Enjoy!

I am a woman of taste. No that’s a lie, I’m a sucker for drama and these troupes. Why do y’all think Arthur & Gwen are one of my top OTPs?
Ok ok ok so actual description. This is for LadyoftheSea’s MEP Tightrope, which is centered around the theme of a person of higher class in love with someone of lower class. And I mean…come on. Come ON. Who the hell else was I supposed to pick? But more than that this troupe in general is just a favorite of mine. I think it’s a good source of drama without being overbearing in preventing the romance. It allows for more of a character study between the characters as you ask what’s really preventing them: society’s expectations, or the expectations they hold amongst themselves? It’s good shit y’all.
And of course Percy and Oktai are a core premise of that. Though this is definitely an AU exploring what their relationship would be like if the circumstances were much different, the first major change being that Oktai actually is aware of Percy’s title. I did this because I wanted to do something different and also I wanted to be able to show what the theme actually was. However, I was definitely conflicted on how to execute the part as a whole. I chose a very dramatic part of the song and y’all know how I am at matching the music and the visuals *seamlessly*. Because of that, it actually was gonna have a bad ending at first but then I had the idea to do a nightmare sequence, where Percy fears the consequences of this lifelong romance now that there’s more risk in it. They’re not little kids anymore, they’re adults and thus have more pressure on both of them. Overall I’m very proud of where I went with it, as I think it makes it more interesting in the long run. Especially since it’s only 20 seconds!
