Dennis Friedly has been making handmade custom knives for over 52 years, but he recognizes that master artisans like himself are a dying breed. Machinization has taken a toll on the industry. "I'd rather starve to death than get into that," he says at the prospect of making tactical knives buyers might use to cut down a tree. Instead, he'll stick to collaborating with engravers to make art knives.
