Today marks the time last year when my baby chirpy hatched. I miss chirpy every single day. She was the first animal I ever got maternally attached too. I raised her from the day her egg was laid by the mother hen. I know I wasn't chirpy's real mother, but it sure felt like it. She was a very unique chicken, and i could never pinpoint what breeds were possibly her parents. My dad grabbed 3 random warm eggs from a farm 1 year ago, and put them in my incubator, all 3 were fertile, however unfortunately two did not survive till hatching, (one that looked just like chirpy, and one yellow one.) we had chirpy for only 18 weeks, but it felt like years. On march 15th, chirpy had disappeared while me and my sister weren't at home and with our best friends. My dad informed us of the news on the 16th when we came back. We were absolutely devastated. We searched for hours into the night in hopes to find her. We never found a trace of feathers or anything. So i think that someone stole her for being a unique looking chicken.
Also, please dont make jokes in the comments. I know there is probably a large handful of people who wont take me seriously and who will make jokes about my chickens being food and not pets. I have delt with it before but please. Just dont comment if you're going to speak like this. Ill just delete your comment. I'm going through enough right now because i lost my gray chicken stormi 2 weeks ago to a bald eagle, and on top of everything else im just spiritually broken right now. These are my babies, i have raised them. And knowing that they are constantly under predation is stressful enough. Chickens have allot more love to give then you think.
