Book 29 on my bookshelves is The Resurrectionist by EB Hudspeth. This historical fiction is short and crazy. It's about a doctor who goes wacko and starts grafting animals and humans together to try and return the species to what he thinks we evolved from. It's split into two parts; the beginning is his descent into madness and the end is the fictional compendium of his research.
