Thirty-two miles off Charlevoix, Beaver Island is home to about 700 people year-round, with that number growing to more than 2,000 in the summer.
It’s a beautiful, unique place, with an incredible variety of plants, wildlife, and natural environments. The folks who run the ferry call it “the Galápagos of the Great Lakes,” and it’s easy to see why.
I hope more Michiganders get the chance to visit and discover this pretty exceptional part of our state.
