Sounds easy, but is it?

If you have disordered eating...
We all do to a certain extent but what I mean here is a really serious problem with food. I developed Binge Eating Disorder out of response to feeling out of control in my marriage (and being controlled) as well as rebelling against the diets I had been on as a figure competitor ,being told what to eat.
This can be a really touchy subject, so please, don't hesitate to get help (counseling is SO helpful and telehealth may be available- check out www.telemynd.com) But if you want to deeper dive here, check out these books:
1) Anything Geneen Roth writes: Breaking Free from Emotional Eating (that's the book that helped me the most!)
2) French Women Don't Get Fat - sounds crazy but it's about changing your relationship with food
It's Not About Diet, It's About Relationship
4 steps here:
Focus on eating whole foods
Have a vegetable with every meal (or at least most)
Eat what you REALLY want and
Write it down, including the emotions you felt when you ate it, how hungry you were and if you were satisfied. You’ll probably identify a pattern and you’ll become more self aware in the process, thereby eating less. (Also, there’s something honest about committing to writing down every morsel)
We have to reestablish that yes, we CAN take care of ourselves and we know how to eat and and it comes back to being present when we eat. Really enjoying it, savoring it.
Ever see a cat eat? Doesn’t matter how small the morsel is, they sit down to eat.
Be like the cat.
