This week brownkidd and YaYa review Trees #1, Inhuman #2, and Avengers #30. We also have two Quick Picks this episode: C.O.W.L. #1 and Southern Bastards #2.
Trees #1 is the highly-anticipated new Image title written by fan favorite Warren Ellis. It takes place 10 years after alien pillars land on Earth. They've just been there the whole time, ignoring humans. Jerks! While this first issue is mainly just character introductions and exposition, it definitely has potential to be a pretty epic sci-fi book.
In Inhuman #2 Dante is about to learn how to use his powers, Medusa and Captain America team up to take on some A.I.M. soldiers, and Medusa wrecks a giant air ship with her hair. HER FREAKING HAIR!!! Also, MAD! aka Joe Madduereira's art continues to be AMAZING.
In Avengers #30, (which is somehow an Original Sin tie-in, but we have no idea how) the Earth's Mightiest Heroes are flung 48 years into the future. Future Hawkeye is all grizzled and bada-ass and tells his younger self that he gets Pizza Dog back! Fans of the Hawkeye solo series by Matt Fraction and David Aja should definitely be relieved.
And if you're NOT reading the amazing Hawkeye solo title, you totally SHOULD be. There's a reason it's the ONLY super hero book to always get nominated for an Eisner.
