OKAY, STAY WHERE YOU ARE….
The past few weeks I’ve been talking about “Move Your Ass”. And while I still wholeheartedly believe that if you can get to the epicenter of where your heart wants to be, do it. Go. Take a chance.
But I’m going modify this a little bit. Let’s carve out a special exemption for writers and other artists, who can do their work in rustic cabins, poolside villas, and other abodes of seclusion and solitude.
Oxford, Mississippi is where Faulkner lived. All his life.
Stephen King resides in Maine and Sarasota, Florida.
Anne Rice never left New Orleans or Rancho Mirage, California.

Now I’ll talk about why I believe they HAVE moved to the epicenter of their dreams.
Level One of Put Your Ass Where Your Heart Wants to Be is the physical dimension. Sit your body down in front of the keyboard. Or move your physical self to the city where your dream is most likely to find its home.
Level Two, however, is about the Inner Body, the metaphorical self. It means “move to the Paris/London/New York in your mind.”
That, I venture to presume, has been done by Faulkner and Stephen King and Anne Rice. They have, in the metaphorical dimension, packed up bag and baggage and “moved” to that place in their hearts where their dream resides.
It’s a true test of your depth of commitment.
Joel and Sienna Cherrico of Cherrico Pottery in Minnesota do it. They go to their studio every day and they are 100% there.
Jack Carr in Utah does it. Every time he sits down at his desk his ass is 100% committed.
Will you take an hour , 30 minutes, two hours every day, go to your place of work and do commit. Meet the muse in that place every day. She’s not counting the minutes, she’s waiting to see if you show up.
How deeply committed are you? Are you “there?” Or are you somewhere else?
