Framestore | Webinar: The Unique Performances of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 @FramestoreOfficial | Uploaded June 2024 | Updated October 2024, 15 hours ago.
Our beloved racoon Rocket, was hand keyed by Framestore animators whose artistic eye is constantly looking to get the balance between human performance and animal behaviour. Creating a performance that culminates in audiences believing in Rocket, in the same way they do the other Hollywood stars he shares a screen with, is a true collaboration. The vocal and reference performances of Bradley Cooper and Sean Gunn, alongside the #previs help to nail down the performance, timing and mechanics and most importantly the emotion.
From the get go James Gunn has been uncompromising in his belief that audiences needed to feel that Rocket and his friends are real, that as a Director he should get the same performance from them as he would from any of the actors on set. Rocket has become a character that makes us laugh, who surprises us, that we’ve grown to love feeling the grief of his loss.
The breadth of visual effects work and the creative and technical challenges overcome to deliver spectacular environments, action sequences, creatures and character performances has seen Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 recognised with Academy Award, BAFTA and VES nominations.
