Deep in the French countryside, we found a house frozen in time every letter and postcard kept for decades, long after the people who wrote them were gone. This was the home of the Delorme family, and their letters slowly told us their story: a father who wanted the world for his son, a mother who filled the house with books, and their only child, Maurice, the boy they pinned all their hopes on. But when illness took his parents in the 1990s, the structure of Maurice's life went with them. From what he left behind, we believe he slipped into alcoholism and let the years drift past, alone in the family home. Through it all, he kept their letters safe, even as the house crumbled around him. A house once filled with ambition, slowly filled with silence. Come inside with us.
