Aussie Garage | We Were Overwhelmed at Cleveland Spares Interview In Melbourne! @AussieGarage | Uploaded August 2024 | Updated October 2024, 2 hours ago.
On this episode we head out and see Rob and Cass at Cleveland Spares in Melbourne. There was so much to take in while we were there so this will be the first instalment in a short series of videos we will release over the coming weeks. So, first we check out Rob's ZD Ford Fairlane. This car was purchased by Rob's mum and dad back in the 70's and it was used as the family car. Rob's dad was a car guy and loved the ZD Ford Fairlane and took meticulous care of it. It still has its factory paint today, many years later when he passed it was left to Rob.
Rob has fond memories in this car and you can see that his passion for cars started when he was a kid. when Rob received the car he had some ideas. he wanted to do his spin on it. So, he fitted a 302 Windsor Engine with about 400 HP. C10 gearbox with a 4000 stall and Shortened 9 inch diff with 31 spline axles and 4:11 gears. Rob kept anything he took out and kept it to one side. Just in case he ever wants to go back to original. The trim is still original except the velour seats. Robs dad changed them so they wouldn't burn the back of there legs on the vinyl. A great car and a great family history to go with it.
Next up is Rob's wife Cass. Now Cass is just as car mad as Rob is and proudly shows us her 1968 Dodge Charger R/T. This car was found on eBay, not the usual way they purchase cars but it was there never the less. Cass grabbed Rob and they headed off to have a look. As soon as she saw it it was going home with them. It still needed a bit of work to finish it off but that was no problem for them. just needed to get it running and finish some trim off. Its a 440 Big Block Engine and has a nice rumble to it. The Red paint and black stripes really looks great on this car and the vinyl roof sits in nicely. the trim is standard but in great condition. And she even has a cushion to sit on so she can see bit better over the bonnet scoop. This car is Cass's pride and joy, and the passion shown by both Cass and Rob toward these 2 cars in particular is just awesome.
