"Bye Imogen, we'll be back in the morning", my Mum, Dad and two of my siblings said to my youngest sister and I as they walked out the door. The door slammed shut, it was 6 o'clock in the afternoon, my family were leaving to go to my cousin's parent's house, I didn't want to go nor did my little sister who was 6 at the time and I was 11. My family would be there overnight.
About half an hour passed and it was time for dinner, we decided to order pizza, my phone went flat so I had to walk with my little sister. As soon as we were about to exit the house; The power went out at the worst time! We had to hurry because the shop was going to close soon, so, we didn't bother about the power going out. We got back around 1 hour later with the pizza. "Imy, did you turn the lights back on?, No, I swear I didn't Emily" I replied feeling cold and strange, even though it was the middle of summer.
Around 8 o'clock my phone was fully charged, so I took the plug out. My sister came running screaming down the hallway in my house, "HELP, HELP SOMETHING SCRATCHED ME!!" There were blood puddles from where she was running and bleeding. I took her to the bathroom and cleaned the wound, and bandaged it up. I called my parents, No answer. I took a shower around 8:30 pm to try and forget about the weird situations that had been happening. I hopped out, as I was doing my usual skincare, I saw a figure behind me in the mirror, I turned around, my heart skipping a beat and.... Nothing was there!
I watched some netflix with my little sister, she drifted off to sleep peacefully as though nothing happened to her. It was around 10 o'clock at night. I went to use the toilet and I was in there for 10 seconds and the power TURNED OFF AGAIN! I rushed to grab my phone, quietly so I didn't wake up my little sister, I walked outside and went to go to the power box, I couldn't reach it because I was so short. I used a milk crate to turn the power back on, it was successful. I tried going to bed after the whole ordeal around 11 o'clock, I heard a bash on my fence outside and before I knew it I saw a flashlight and heard a bash against my window, next to my bedroom. SOMEONE WAS TRYING TO BREAK IN!
I ran to the kitchen, grabbed a small knife, and called the police whilst I hid in my closet with my little sister. I covered her mouth to try and stop her from crying. About 10 minutes later I heard sirens outside my house. I jumped through the window with my sister, next thing I knew, I passed out. I woke up in hospital surrounded by my family, it turns out I had cut my arm on broken glass and somehow fainted. I got stitches. Turns out the kidnapper was a pedophile and assaulted children. He somehow knew we were home alone. The man was arrested and sent to an asylum after. I am 12 now and will never forget what happened, I am never staying home alone EVER again..
