Route 66's 100th anniversary is bringing big changes to Missouri, and we're hitting the Mother Road to see what's new!
After a quick drive across Missouri from Springfield, we arrive at the Route 66 Neon Park in St. Robert to see one of the state's newest Route 66 attractions, featuring restored signs, giant roadside icons, and colorful tributes to a century of America's most famous highway.
From there it's off to Uranus, Missouri, where we explore the ever-expanding roadside attraction, check out the latest additions, tour the Sideshow Museum, visit the famous bus, and see what's changed since our last visit. Then we continue down Route 66 to Devil's Elbow and Devil's Cut, two of the most historic and scenic locations on the entire Missouri stretch of the Mother Road.
The journey continues through Rolla to check out the exciting new life of the former Mule Trading Post. Once one of Route 66's classic stops, the property is being revived as The Ole Mule, bringing new energy to a legendary stop that many travelers feared was gone forever.
Next we visit the Giant Rocking Chair before heading into Cuba, Missouri - one of the most classic quiet Missouri Route 66 towns. We discover unique Route 66 Centennial birthday cake sculptures, admire the town's incredible collection of murals, and explore some of the newest additions celebrating Route 66's upcoming 100th birthday.
Finally, we visit the historic Wagon Wheel Motel, one of the oldest continuously operating motels on Route 66. We tour the restored station office, check out the new Centennial photo opportunity, and take a moment to remember Connie, whose passion and dedication helped make the Wagon Wheel one of the most beloved destinations on the Mother Road.
