Avatar: The Last Airbender (2005) Episodes 1 & 2 ("The Boy in the Iceberg" / "The Avatar Returns") introduce Water Tribe siblings Katara (Mae Whitman – voice) and Sokka (Jack De Sena – voice) as they discover Aang (Zach Tyler Eisen – voice), the last Airbender and long-lost Avatar, trapped in an iceberg for a hundred years. When Aang awakens, his identity as the Avatar draws the attention of the banished Prince Zuko (Dante Basco – voice), forcing Aang, Katara, and Sokka to work together to escape capture and set the stage for the Avatar’s journey to restore balance to the world.
Avatar: The Last Airbender (2024) Episode 1 ("Aang") reimagines the beginning of the story in live action, as Aang (Gordon Cormier) learns he is the Avatar, flees from the overwhelming responsibility, and accidentally freezes himself in ice for a century before being discovered by Katara (Kiawentiio) and Sokka (Ian Ousley). Meanwhile, exiled Prince Zuko (Dallas Liu) begins his relentless hunt for the Avatar, setting the conflict in motion.
