Today, we are at the beautiful Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Los Angeles, California, to visit the final resting place of a true television icon: Estelle Getty.
Beloved by millions for her hilarious, Emmy-winning role as the quick-witted, purse-carrying Sophia Petrillo on The Golden Girls, Estelle brought so much laughter into our living rooms. Ironically, while she played the elderly matriarch of the show and the mother of Dorothy (Bea Arthur), Estelle was actually younger than Bea Arthur in real life and required extensive makeup and wigs to look the part!
She passed away in 2008 at the age of 84, but her incredible comedic timing and heartwarming legacy live on. Join me as we pay our respects behind the hedges at her beautiful marker here in Hollywood.
