Fitz and Keefe are best friends.
Keefe grew up with neglectful parents and acted out in rebellion to try and own his life. Though he likes to pretend otherwise, the disapproval from his father (and his mother's general evilness) takes a huge toll on him. But Fitz has always been there to support him, and always will be. Fitz is more serious and practical, which helps reign Keefe in. His family provides Keefe with love (except for when Alden behaves like a total JERK, but that's another matter). Fitz would risk so much just to make Keefe happy.
On the other hand, Fitz spent his whole life trying to live up to his prestigious family name, and the pressure that came with such a thing is certainly not leaving Fitz in the best state of mind. However, Keefe is the kind of person who can make you laugh and smile even in the toughest situations. He helps Fitz to loosen up and escape from everyone's expectations.
BOTH of them were willing to step aside and let their best friend be with Sophie because they want each other to be happy, and they want Sophie to be happy. However, the love triangle has still worsened a lot of issues.
Keefe feels as though he is a problem. This contributed to why he stepped back and let SoFitz happen; he thought Sophie & Fitz deserved happiness, but he didn't. This isn't a healthy mindset. Fitz is pretty much the exact opposite; he wants to find someone to blame for his problems. His life became a mess, and he's angry about it. After finding out his crush/ex kissed his best friend, he was (reasonably) furious. But it's clear he still cares about Keefe as his closest friend.
Both of these guys had their issues fleshed out in Stelleralune, so I'm hoping in book 10 there's some actual communication and some nice character development. And I'm really hoping we get some good best friend moments between them.
Regardless, I just wanted to make a little video that explores their friendship. (I've really only seen one other video on YouTube that really focuses on Fitz and Keefe's friendship.) But MY video isn't really that good; I've been sick lately and none of my current projects were close enough to being finished, so I just rushed to make this instead so I could get something out on time. And I think you can really tell this isn't my best work. But I still had fun making it, so oh well.
Anyways, I'll do a proper thumbnail tomorrow. Right now I'm going to bed.
