In this episode of Smelter Workshop we point a camera at the sky, run YOLO on the decoded frames through Smelter's side channel, and spawn a NES-style duck sprite on every real bird it finds. Then we shoot them down - with a pistol built from a saw handle, a glow-stick tube, a bike phone mount, and a Bluetooth trigger button.
What's inside:
• YOLO bird detection feeding a live compositor in real time
• Your phone as the gun - scan a QR code, no app, no pairing
• Gyro-mouse aiming (and why orientation angles gimbal-lock the moment you hold a phone like a pistol)
• Deterministic duck flight - server and renderer compute the same path, so every shot lands exactly where you see the sprite
• The full NES death beat: white flash, freeze-frame, falling duck, and the dog when you bag two in two seconds
• Multiplayer duel out of the box - per-player crosshairs, live scoreboard, magazine size and reload time set by the operator
• Everything composited and broadcast live over WebRTC with Smelter
