Today we broke out the Huddig and finally put the radio remote control to the test. This machine can be fully operated remotely, and while I’ve shown and talked about that capability in past videos, today we actually put it to work in a very unconventional way.
Using the rototilt and grapple on the backhoe side, we attempted to grab a regular hand broom and sweep snow out of our driveway. Sounds simple… it wasn’t.
My brother Aaron and I have experience with RC cars and airplanes, but controlling a full-size piece of equipment like this is a completely different animal. Between broken broom handles, cracked brooms, and plenty of trial and error, this turned into a real challenge.
Aaron definitely picked it up faster than I did, but overall it was a fun, slightly ridiculous experiment that really shows what this machine is capable of—and how much skill it actually takes to operate.
Sometimes you just have to try things and see what happens.
