How do you fit a Yamaha R6 engine back into the frame? That's exactly what we're showing in this video as our Yamaha R6 5EB to 5SL engine conversion reaches a major milestone.
After converting our Yamaha R6 5EB engine using the later 5SL engine, it's finally time to get the engine back into the Yamaha R6 frame.
We searched YouTube ourselves for information on doing this and couldn't find a video showing the process we needed, so we decided to film exactly how we fitted the Yamaha R6 engine into the frame.
If you're rebuilding a Yamaha YZF-R6 5EB or 5SL, replacing an R6 engine, carrying out an engine swap or struggling to work out how to physically get the engine back into the aluminium frame, hopefully our experience will help.
Getting a Yamaha R6 engine into the frame isn't simply a case of lifting it up and pushing it into position. Space is extremely limited, the engine is heavy and you need to work out the best way of manoeuvring everything into place without damaging the frame or engine.
In this video you'll see the actual workshop method we used to get the engine positioned and installed.

This project originally started because of problems with the Yamaha R6 5EB engine and cracked cylinder liners, which led us down the route of converting to the later 5SL setup.
Now we've reached the really satisfying part — the engine is finally back in the bike!
