Here’s an extended look at Mega Man: Dual Override, thanks to Capcom inventing us to a hosted preview event in New York ahead of Gamescom 2026, where I spent roughly an hour playing through the same demo that would be available to attendees at the show.
The gameplay features plenty of classic Mega Man platforming and combat, along with some of the new mechanics Capcom is introducing. These include equippable chipsets that can enhance Mega Man’s offensive or defensive abilities, the powerful Override system, and visible battle damage that builds across his armor as he takes hits. Despite these additions, the running, jumping, shooting, tricky platforming, and deliberately frustrating enemy placement still feel unmistakably like classic Mega Man.
