"Fairphone, how do you make tech sustainable?”
We get asked this a lot when we tell people what Fairphone is all about. The answer isn’t a short one, though. Because there are a LOT of things we do at Fairphone to make sure our products are fairer to people and the planet.
We use fair and recycled materials in our devices, investing in mineral credits where needed to improve the lives and working conditions of miners. Did you know the Fairphone (Gen. 6) contains more than 50% fair and recycled materials by total weight?
We pay living wage bonuses to factory workers who assemble our phones and audio products to help earn a living wage. Since 2019, we have paid out close to USD$1.25M in living wage bonuses.
We make sure our products are built to last with award-winning modularity and industry-leading support periods. Every Fairphone since the Fairphone 2 has scored a perfect 10 out of 10 on iFixit’s repairability tests.
We make sure all our latest products are 100% e-waste neutral to make sure we are not adding to the global e-waste problem. Last year alone, we collected 30 tons of electronic waste for responsible recycling.
