Death Lobs are NOT the super broken mechanic everyone is worried about, it is counterable. My problem is death lobs add another strength to offense that just make the game super boring on defense. You shouldn't have to cover a toad at midfield to avoid a 100% goal set up, while also defending the cross pass.
