The Journey into the White Mountains
Our day begins in the mountain village of Anopoli, the gateway to the White Mountains of Crete. To reach the trailhead, we embark on a spectacular scenic drive, a 43 km Crete roadtrip across a challenging dirt road that climbs 1,350 meters into the heart of the massif. This area is known as the "High Desert," a unique lunar landscape of limestone and silence that makes it one of the best hikes in Crete.

Climbing Pachnes (2,453m)
Once at the trailhead (1,950m), the Pachnes climb begins. The path leads through the stark, white peaks of the Lefka Ori, where the contrast between the pale rocks and the deep blue of the Libyan Sea creates a walking tour like no other.
