Built in 1921 and opened to fanfare in April 1923, the Hotel Muskogee once stood as the finest institution of its kind in Muskogee, Oklahoma. A half-million dollar showpiece on the corner of Main and Broadway, it survived the Great Depression, boomed again through the 1930s and 50s, and became a landmark known for its iconic blue neon sign. That sign, advertising the hotel name, its fireproof construction, and its coffee shop, hung outside long after the building went dark. In March 2026, it was finally removed with plans to restore its neon lights and give it a new home.

In this video, we walk the halls, peek behind the front desk, and piece together the story of a building that outlasted nearly everyone who ever stayed in it. Small crimes. Big history. And at least one story dark enough to save for Part 2.

Part 2 drops soon. Subscribe and click the bell so you don't miss it.
