What if a tiny robot could walk on walls and crawl across ceilings just like a real beetle?
In this project, I built a palm-sized ESP32 wall-climbing robot that uses a high-speed BLDC motor and propeller to create suction force, allowing it to stick to vertical surfaces and even climb upside down on ceilings.

Unlike traditional wall-climbing robots that use large motors and heavy batteries, this compact robot focuses on lightweight design, airflow optimization, and mechanical efficiency. The entire robot was designed to look like a real beetle using a custom 3D-printed Voronoi-inspired shell.
Inside this tiny machine:
ESP32 controls the entire robot wirelessly
BLDC motor generates suction for wall adhesion
N20 motors provide movement
Li-Po battery powers the system
Custom web app allows remote control from a phone
I tested different designs, measured suction force, optimized weight distribution, and finally created a robot that can climb walls and ceilings while weighing only around 100 grams.
