We are training a generation to manage work they have never actually done.

Companies are dropping recent graduates into roles that used to take three to five years to grow into. The assumption is that AI handles the routine, so the human can skip the years that used to teach them how the routine actually works. The shortcut feels efficient, right up until you realize you cannot supervise something you have never done.

The skills gap surfaces when companies start trying to fill director and VP positions and find nobody ready. The judgment, the operational understanding, the leadership capacity, none of it was built, because the years that build it got cut.

What we are cutting in the name of efficiency is the experience that builds the leaders we will need.

If this and other leadership topics are of interest to you, I'm hosting a live masterclass soon. I only host these a few times a year. Comment MASTERCLASS and I'll DM you the details.
