Despite major opposition from people, scientists and governments, the commercial extraction of minerals in the deep ocean could start as early as July 2023. We cannot let these companies, hidden by murky governance and conflicts of interest, strip mine the seabed. We urgently need to stop deep-sea mining before it has even started.
