This is the Spellsword character in our upcoming PC version of Wayward Souls. He's similar in playstyle to the main character of our first action RPG, Mage Gauntlet. Fast magic-immune dashes, mixed in with quick attacks.
Spoilers: Last part of the video shows off the boss of the second area.
Since his shortsword has a little bit more range than a dagger and isn't dependent on backstabs, he's more straightforward than the Rogue. He also gets a stunning charge attack that covers a good distance, so he has a bit less difficulty with swarming enemies like slimes.
In exchange, he loses the sheer burst potential that Rogue and Cultist get. He can make up for this somewhat by hoarding spell scrolls, which let him cast high damage spells such as fireballs.
Some notes for this build:
- We added level-wide teleporters. They'll show up at dead ends, and send you back to the start. Once you find a teleporter, you can jump between all the teleporters you've found previously.
- As we added these teleporters, I'm experimenting with reducing the game speed to +10% compared to the mobile version. In all the other videos for the PC version, it's been at +20%. I still want some speed increase compared to mobile, because otherwise the game seems too slow due to the way bigger screen size.
- We fixed that broken dashing effect, that could be seen in the last Rogue video and some others.
- The UI changes are also almost done, we spent some extra time putting in the level warp system. After that, development should become very fast.
