The "March of the Volunteers" is the national anthem of the People's Republic of China. Unlike most previous Chinese state anthems, It is written entirely in the vernacular, rather than in Classical Chinese.
Composed during the Japanese invasion of China, its lyrics were written as a dramatic poem by the poet and playwright, Tian Han in 1934 and set to music by Nie Er from Yunnan Province the next year for the film Children of Troubled Times. It was adopted as the PRC's provisional anthem in 1949 in place of the "Three Principles of the People" of the Republic of China and the Communist "Internationale".
The flag of China, officially the National Flag of the People's Republic of China and also often known as the Five-starred Red Flag, is a Chinese red field charged in the canton (upper corner nearest the flagpole) with five golden stars. The design features one large star, with four smaller stars in a semicircle set off towards the fly (the side farthest from the flag pole). It has been the national flag of China since the foundation of the People's Republic of China on 1 October 1949.
The red represents the Chinese Communist Revolution and the five stars and their relationships to each other represent the unity of the Chinese people under the leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

![Waving flag and National Anthem of East Germany, Auferstanden aus Ruinen, (historical)
Auferstanden aus Ruinen (English: Risen from Ruins, lit. Resurrected out [of] Ruins) is a German patriotic song that was the national anthem of East Germany during its existence from 1949 to 1990. In 1949, the Soviet occupation zone of Allied-occupied Germany became a socialist state under the name of the German Democratic Republic (GDR). For the nascent states national anthem, the poet Johannes Becher, who later became the East German Minister of Culture, wrote the lyrics. Two musicians, Ottmar Gerster and Hanns Eisler, proposed music to Bechers lyrics, and Eislers version was selected. This recording is an alternative version.
The flag of East Germany was the official national flag of the German Democratic Republic (East Germany) during its existence from 1959 to 1990. The flags design and symbolism are derived from the flag of the Weimar Republic and communist symbolism. The flag was outlawed as an unconstitutional and criminal symbol in West Germany and West Berlin, where it was referred to as the Spalterflagge (secessionist flag) until the late 1960s.

![Waving flag and National Anthem of Tibet, Gyallu
The Tibetan National Anthem (Tibetan: བོད་རྒྱལ་ཁབ་ཆེན་པོའི་རྒྱལ་གླུ།, Bod Rgyal Khab Chen Poi Rgyal Glu), known as Gyallu, is the anthem of the Tibetan Government in Exile and is strictly banned by the Peoples Republic of China, especially in the Tibet Autonomous Region. It was written by Trijang Rinpoche in 1950. Tibets first national anthem was, according to Tashi Tsering, written by a Tibetan scholar during the epoch of the seventh Dalai Lama and under the reign of the Pholanas in between 1745 and 1746.
The flag of Tibet (Standard Tibetan: བོད་ཀྱི་རྒྱལ་དར།, lit. Tibetan national flag), also known as the Snow Lion flag (gangs seng dar cha), was used by the de facto independent polity of Tibet from 1916 to 1951.[1] It was adopted by the 13th Dalai Lama in 1916 and used until 1959. While the Tibetan flag is illegal in Tibet today, it continues to be used by the Central Tibetan Administration, based in Dharamshala in India.
The Government of the Peoples Republic of China considers it to be a symbol of separatism; however, the Dalai Lama, the spiritual leader of the Tibetan people, said in recent years that he hoped that Tibet would achieve true autonomy and would not ask for independence. He believes that the symbolism of the flag is similar to that of the Hong Kong regional flag and does not represent the Tibetan independence movement, but the concept of pursuing religious freedom and pursuing national equality and mutual respect.

![Bhutan: National Anthem and Waving Flag
Druk Tsenden (Dzongkha: འབྲུག་ཙན་དན, Dzongkha pronunciation: [ɖ(ʐ)ṳ̀e̯ t͡sén.d̥è̤n]; The Thunder Dragon Kingdom) is the national anthem of Bhutan. Adopted in 1953, the lyrics were written by Dolop Droep Namgay and possibly translated into English by Dasho Gyaldun Thinley. The accompanying music was composed by Aku Tongmi.
The national flag of Bhutan (འབྲུག་ཡུལ་རྒྱལ་དར) is one of the national symbols of Bhutan. The flag features the Druk, a dragon from Bhutanese mythology. This alludes to the countrys name in Dzongkha: འབྲུག་ཡུལ་ Druk Yul, meaning The Thunder Dragon Kingdom, as well as the Drukpa Lineage of Tibetan Buddhism—the dominant religion of Bhutan.
The yellow signifies civil tradition and temporal authority as embodied in the Druk Gyalpo, the Dragon King of Bhutan, whose royal garb traditionally includes a yellow kabney (scarf). The orange half signifies Buddhist spiritual tradition, particularly the Drukpa Kagyu and Nyingma schools. The dragon spreads equally over the line between the colours. Its placement in the centre of the flag over the dividing line between the flags two colours signifies the equal importance of both civic and monastic traditions in the Kingdom of Druk (Bhutan) and evokes the strength of the sacred bond between sovereign and people. The dragons white colour signifies the purity of inner thoughts and deeds that unite all the ethnically and linguistically diverse peoples of Bhutan. The jewels held in Druks claws represent Bhutans wealth and the security and protection of its people, while the dragons snarling mouth symbolizes Bhutanese deities commitment to the defense of Bhutan.

Hatikvah (Hebrew: הַתִּקְוָה [hatikˈva]; lit. The Hope) is the national anthem of the State of Israel. ![Waving flag and National Anthem of North Macedonia, Denes nad Makedonija
Denes nad Makedonija (Macedonian: Денес над Македонија, pronounced [ˈdɛnɛs nad makɛˈdɔnija]; lit. Today Over Macedonia; is the national anthem of North Macedonia; both the music and lyrics date from the early 1940s. Todor Skalovski composed the music, while the lyrics were written by Vlado Maleski. It was adopted as the national anthem in 1992, a year after the states independence was declared from Yugoslavia. Before its adoption as a national anthem, it was used as the regional anthem of the Socialist Republic of Macedonia, a constituent state of Yugoslavia.
The flag of North Macedonia is the national flag of the Republic of North Macedonia and depicts a stylized yellow sun on a red field, with eight broadening rays extending from the center to the edge of the field. It was created by Miroslav Grčev and was adopted on 5 October 1995. The first flag of the country, known as the Vergina Flag, featured the Vergina Sun, a symbol that had been discovered at Aigai, the first capital and burial ground of the ancient kings of Macedon. Greece considers the Vergina Sun to be a Greek symbol and imposed a year-long economic embargo in order to force the then Republic of Macedonia to remove it from its flag, resulting in the current design. The new eight-rayed sun represents the new sun of Liberty referred to in Denes nad Makedonija, the national anthem of North Macedonia.

![Waving Flag and National Anthem of São Tomé and Príncipe, Independência total
Independência total is the national anthem of São Tomé and Príncipe. The anthem, adopted in 1975, was written by Alda Neves da Graça do Espírito Santo (1926–2010)[1] and composed by Manuel dos Santos Barreto de Sousa e Almeida (1933–).
The flag of São Tomé and Príncipe (Portuguese: bandeira de São Tomé e Príncipe) consists of a red triangle situated at the hoist, with three horizontal green, yellow and green bands charged with two five-pointed black stars at the centre. Adopted in 1975 to replace the flag of Portugal from the colonial period, it has been the flag of the Democratic Republic of São Tomé and Príncipe since the country gained independence in that same year. The design of the present flag was inspired by and is almost identical to the flag of the Movement for the Liberation of São Tomé and Príncipe.
The colours and symbols of the flag carry cultural, political, and regional meanings. The green alludes to the plentiful vegetation of the country, while the yellow stands for the tropical sun and cocoa, a key agricultural crop for the nation. The red evokes the struggle for independence, as well as equality. The two black stars on the yellow band represent the two islands that make up the country.

![Costa Rica: National Anthem and Waving Flag
The National Anthem of the Republic of Costa Rica (Spanish: Himno Nacional de la República de Costa Rica), also known by its incipit as Noble patria, tu hermosa bandera (Noble Fatherland, Your Beautiful Flag), was first adopted in 1852. Its music was composed by Manuel María Gutiérrez Flores, who dedicated the score to French adventurer Gabriel-Pierre Lafond de Lurcy [fr]. The music was created to receive delegates from the United Kingdom and the United States that year for the Webster-Crampton Treaty. It was the first Central American national anthem.
The national flag of Costa Rica (Spanish: Bandera de Costa Rica) is based on a design created in 1848 and consists of two blue stripes, two white stripes, and a central red stripe which is twice as wide as each of the other four. The civil flag omits the coat of arms seen on the state flag, since the state variant is only permitted to be used by the government. The colors of the flag share the ideals of French Revolution of 1848: freedom, equality, and brotherhood. Blue means the sky, opportunities at reach, intellectual thinking, perseverance to accomplish a goal, infinite, eternity, and ideals of the religious and spiritual desires. White means clear thinking, happiness, wisdom, power and beauty of the sky, the driving force of initiatives to search for new endeavors, and the peace of Costa Rica. Red means “civilization of the century” and the sun casting on Costa Rica the “first rays of its true independence”, the warmth of Costa Rican people, their love to live, their bloodshed for freedom, and their generous attitude.
