Wild Matsu | Wavetable Castle (Ys-Style Original) [HuC6280] @WildMatsu | Uploaded August 2018 | Updated October 2024, 2 hours ago.
I said a looooooong time ago I was gonna do something for the HuC6280 (the processor in the TurboGrafx-16), and hit up some of my friends for examples of music for the chip so I could try to learn it. I've played a small handful of games for the system, but all of theme were TG-CD games primarily featuring streamed Redbook CD audio. (I've played the Ys games, Rondo of Blood, and.... not much else.)
Wavetable has a neat sound and I wanted to work with it. It seems like a natural evolution of PSG; it has all of the same waveforms and the freedom to draw whatever other wave you want. On top of that, the HuC6280 actually offers stereo, unlike the NES, which was a point of frustration for me with the system.
Anyway, this is trying to be some kind of Ys track, like an intro theme or a dungeon theme. (Never mind that any Ys game on the system would stream a track like this.)
You may recognize this as Day 3 of my 21 Days of VGM.
Again, enjoy tracker inputs instead of Sidwiz again. Sidwiz doesn't do to well with wavetable, anyway...
