Hi everyone, I'm back with the promised Q&A. I can only thank you all for being so supportive and getting this channel up to 50k subscribers! It's an absolute dream and I'm still not over it.

Once again, thank you all for sending in your wonderful questions. Some of them were about me, and others were about physics - a perfect mix. I particularly enjoyed talking about wave-particle duality, and the universal gravitational constant.

One of you asked why the gravitational constant was important and whether our equations broke without it. The short answer is yes - the constant is essentially the proportionality constant that quantifies the strength of the gravitational force in our universe. It is this constant that tells us exactly how much gravitational force is exerted between a given pair of masses at a given separation. As far as we can find, this value is constant throughout the universe, so it's known as a universal constant. Pretty cool right?

Another one of you also asked about wave-particle duality. You asked why light behaved both like a particle and a wave, and whether "God was playing dice" (famous Einstein quote). Although Einstein used the "dice" quote to refer to the fact that quantum mechanics was inherently a probabilistic theory (which he didn't like), wave-particle duality is slightly outside the realm of that quote in my opinion. At first, it may seem surprising that certain quantum objects can behave as both waves and particles, but then we remember that "waves" and "particles" are inherently human ideas. We built the models in our minds based on things we saw in the universe and our own common sense / logic. It is entirely plausible that we didn't have enough experimental and technical skill when these models were developed, to see that a better model would be one that incorporates both ideas, and properties of both models come out of it naturally. So this (in my opinion) is a human problem and not a universe problem.
