Trying something new here...and I'm looking forward to hearing what you guys think...a super fast-forward video of my painting. Will you let me know how you like it? There's no music in this one. Do you like them quiet or would you rather I add some music or a voice-over?
Also, I want to add a little about they why behind my work...here it is:
I painted a page in my art journal today called "Two-faced". There's a long story behind it that I won't bother you with. In essence it is about witnessing the sad winter of the life of a man who lead a two-faced life. He managed to do everything he ever wanted, but at the cost of everyone and everything. It didn't make him happy, though. Because at the end of his life he's lonely and lost in his own webs of lies and obsessions.
It may sound like a heavy subject to journal about, but in fact, it was not. This page 'came up' in a cloud...apparently it was a story that was waiting to be told. And crazy, perhaps, but I enjoyed painting it. Because pouring a story into an image gives a certain power, I think. You can do anything in images and call the shots for a bit. :-)
The supplies I used for this watercolor painting / art journal pages are:
- Talens Mixed Media paper 140lbs (fantastic paper, by the way!)
- HB graphite pencil
- Koh-i-Noor Era eraser pencil
- Daniel Smith watercolor paint
- Talens gouache white
That's it for now. I have a huge bunch of art supplies waiting to be reviewed...and I mean HUGE! But I wanted to share some art first.
