🚩 Here are 6 must-know watercolor snow techniques for winter scenes:

💦Splattering with water
Paint your wash and, while it's still wet, splatter water over it with a brush or toothbrush.
🎨Splattering with white gouache
Paint your wash, allow it to dry, and splatter white gouache over it. I like using a toothbrush for this. Make sure you're using Permanent or Titanium White gouache so that your snow is visible.
🎭Masking fluid
I like using a toothbrush to splatter masking fluid over my clean paper. Once fully dry, paint your wash over it. Allow to dry again and remove masking fluid to reveal snow.
🧂Salt
Paint your wash and, while still wet, sprinkle salt over it. Allow to dry completely, then dust salt off to reveal snow effect.
🕯️Wax resist
Use a wax-based drawing medium (such as a white Prismacolor pencil), to scribble little marks over clean watercolor paper. Paint your wash over these marks. Allow to dry. Repeat the process if you'd like more marks.
🧽 Lifting
Paint your wash and, while still wet, use a Q-tip or a rolled-up paper towel to absorb paint. Press down the tip to absorb small amounts of paint off paper. Continue as needed.
