Watercolor Paint

r Watercolor Paint Brush (Small- medium round)
Water in a Container
Paper Towel or Rag
Pencil and Eraser
Masking Tape (optional)
Steps
1. Tape edges of Paper (optional)
2. Draw the flower in pencil with me (this is a close up of a flower)
3. Mix up a puddle of light red (pink) paint in your tray or on a plate
4. Paint the whole flower in with the lightest color, avoiding the areas with anther and filament (hot dog shapes in the center)
5. Add a little more red to the puddle and paint the darker areas on the petals.
6. Add even more color to the puddle and use the dry brush technique to add texture to the petals
7. Paint in the background
8. Paint in the yellow middle shapes
9. Let it dry then remove the tape
Adaptions
Children can use whatever color they want for the flower and the background. Yellow is a little harder to see. Draw less petals, or let them draw their own flower if the close up version is too strange for them
Paint in the petals with one color, no need to add more layers
Extensions
Study the parts of a flower. Find a flower and dissect it and then identify them.
