WATER CONSERVATION: FROM FLOODWATER TO RICE FIELDS

This video shows a large-scale water impounding dam that captures rain runoff and excess river water during floods.

Instead of allowing floodwater to damage crops or flow away unused, this system conserves water so it can be released gradually for livestock and crop production, including rice paddies.

For the Philippines, where typhoons bring too much water at once and dry months follow soon after, conservation is not a choice. It is a necessity.

Water stored during abundance supports:
• Rice irrigation during dry periods
• Reduced dependence on pumps and fuel
• More stable planting schedules

Ang tubig ay biyaya kapag pinaghahandaan.
Ang tubig ay problema kapag sinasayang.

True water conservation is planning ahead.
