In 1973, I was 13 years old.
At a school friend’s house, I discovered this vinyl record by chance… and it was a shock.
I also remember that strange cover.
What is this image? What is it telling?
I kept looking at it without really understanding what it was about.
Everything felt so mysterious to me, from the height of my 13 years.
Then a strange sound opens the album.
Today we might call it lo-fi.
But at the time, that Mellotron sound completely overwhelmed me.
Even now, those first two chords are legendary.
Much later in my life, I had the chance to meet Peter Gabriel.
And while we were talking, I still had the image of that moment in the back of my mind.
An unforgettable memory.
This album, along with a few others, simply changed my life.
