PBS NewsHour | WATCH: Vance blames Harris for immigration crisis | CBS Vice Presidential Debate @PBSNewsHour | Uploaded 1 week ago | Updated 4 hours ago
Ohio Sen. JD Vance blamed Vice President Kamala Harris for a “historic immigration crisis” at the nation’s southern border, saying “we have to stop the bleeding” at the vice presidential debate Tuesday evening.
The southern border had seen record high levels of illegal crossings during part of President Joe Biden's term, however tough new border restrictions put in place by the Biden administration have changed how people can gain asylum and dramatically reduced the number of illegal crossings in recent months.
“You’ve got to reimplement Donald Trump’s border policies, build the wall, reimplement deportations,” Vance said.
With just more than a month to go before Election Day, Vance and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz met for their first and only vice presidential debate on Oct. 1, hosted by CBS in New York.
