Declaring the name change of the Great Lake "effective immediately," the action comes amid escalating trade tensions and renewed bad blood between the United States and Canada. During the signing, the President took direct aim at America's northern neighbor, stating that Canadian officials have treated the U.S. "very badly." The newly dubbed Lake America is bordered by New York state to the south and east, and Canada's Ontario province to the north and west.
