Cooking dinner looks a little different hundreds of miles above Earth! In a fun video shared from the International Space Station (ISS), NASA astronauts Jessica Meir and Jack Hathaway demonstrated their unique "slow cooking" method for preparing fresh vegetables in zero gravity. After receiving a fresh delivery from a recent resupply vehicle, the crew showed how they carefully prepare onions and garlic by coating them in olive oil and wrapping them in aluminum foil. Because they don't have a traditional oven, the foil packets are placed inside a specialized food warmer for 12 to 24 hours to slowly roast and caramelize. The fascinating video offers a rare glimpse into the daily life and meal preparation of astronauts living and working in microgravity.
