Former Belgian ambassador to China Patrick Nijs first came to China as a diplomat in 1997 and became ambassador to China in 2009. In 2013, when he left his post as ambassador, Nijs decided to stay in the country and settled in a remote mountain village in southwest China's Yunnan Province. Since then, he has devoted himself to China's ecological and environmental protection cause. CGTN host Michael Wang talks to Patrick Nijs to explore why the former ambassador chose to stay in China for his ecological dream, his view of China's achievements in ecological protection and governance, and his passion and efforts to promote ecological exchange and communication between China and the West.
