My ReThink Review of WASTE LAND, the excellent documentary by Lucy Walker about Vik Muniz, a brazillian artist, who traveled to Jardim Gramacho, the world's largest dump, to create portraits depicting the men and women who salvage recyclables for a living. The portraits would be entirely made of discarded materials gathered and arranged by the pickers themselves, with the hope that art could change their lives.
